Requirements
The requirements needed to qualify as a minority-owned business are as follows:

  • A for-profit enterprise, regardless of size.
  • Physically located in the United States.
  • At least 51% owned, operated and controlled by one or more minority individuals. In case of a publicly-owned business, at least 51% of the stock is owned by one or more minority individuals. Minority group members are African-American, Hispanic-American, Native-American, Asian Indian-American and Asian Pacific-American.
  • Must be certified with one or more of the We Energies recognized MBE/WBE certification organizations.

The requirements needed to qualify as a non-minority, women-owned business are as follows:

  • A for-profit enterprise, regardless of size.
  • Physically located in the United States.
  • At least 51% owned, operated and controlled by one or more non-minority women. In case of a publicly-owned business, at least 51% of the stock is owned by one or more non-minority women.
  • Must be certified with one or more of the We Energies recognized WBE certification organizations.

To register as a minority and non-minority, women-owned business, you must be certified with one or more of the following certification agencies and provide evidence of your certification (a copy of your certificate) for our records:
