2012
- Corporate Responsibility magazine — The magazine recognized Wisconsin Energy as one of the 100 best corporate citizens in the United States for the fifth consecutive year. The publication evaluates approximately 1,000 publicly held companies on the basis of environmental performance, employee relations, philanthropy, finance and governance. For the fourth time, the magazine also placed Wisconsin Energy among the number-one-ranked companies in the category of corporate governance.
- Arbor Day Foundation — We Energies was selected for the 14th straight year as a Tree Line USA Utility. The award, sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters, recognizes the company's efforts in providing dependable, reliable service, while using best-practice vegetation management techniques. The award for utilities has three requirements: a program of quality tree care, annual employee training in quality tree-care practices, and tree planting and public education programs.
- Wisconsin Safety Council — The organization named We Energies a 2011 Corporate Safety Award winner, recognizing the company for making employee safety a top priority and taking extensive measures to prevent injuries and keep employees safe. The Wisconsin Corporate Safety Awards rank nominees based on Occupational Safety Health Administration incident rates and a series of workplace health and safety questions. Nominees are categorized by size and industry. We Energies won the top honor in the agricultural/forestry/transportation/mining/utilities category.
- Electric Light & Power magazine — The magazine named Gale Klappa, Wisconsin Energy chairman, president and CEO, as CEO of the Year in the publication’s annual review of utility executive leadership. Klappa was the top CEO in the large utility division.
- Institutional Investor magazine — The magazine named Gale Klappa, Wisconsin Energy chairman, president and CEO, to its All-American Executive Team for 2012.
